My parents launch bestofpei.com store
I'm in Florida for the week with my family. It's a little on the chilly side today, so we're all sitting inside surfin' the web (and then we're off for a geek field trip to BestBuy).
While eatin' b-fast, my parents just let me know that they have launched an online store for a shop they own on Prince Edward Island that sells ONLY PEI-made products (yes, they're heading the hyper local direction - everything single thing in the store is created by local artisans).
My folks were asking me how they get more traffic to the site, so I mentioned that it helps to have bloggers post about bestofpei.com. Naturally, I offered to be the first ;). For more about my home province, check out Wikipedia (and if you want to visit PEI, go between April-October...for obvious climate reasons).
In other non-Island tech news, lots going on in the net neutrality debate in Canada (Keith, thx for the link!).

Wait a minute... your parents opened an online store and didn't consult you and all of your talents first? Wow! The site looks great regardless.

@Amber If the their store is anything like their two oyher children, then both it and the new website are going to be a great success. Nice to see that the online store has a sitemap, Now I wonder where they got that idea from? Sorry it's a little on the chilly side for you in FLORIDA. It's 14 degree's C and overcast in Northampton, UK. I know where I would rather be, let me know if you want to swap place's? Have fun at BestBuy, remember the Loonie is at 1.07USD, so spend till your credit card bleeds. Or your parents tell you off for buying to many gadgets.

Hey! THX for all the great comments and posts. As for the e-com site, my parents had me look at it months ago but I didn't get to see the final product til now. My brother Jeff worked on it a lot and did a fine job!! -A

The store looks great but there's no Two Hours Traffic, Nathan Wiley, or Haywire in the music section. PEI is more than just fiddle 'n' folk! In fairness though I suspect that it may be tougher to get label CDs to sell than indepenent ones. I'm not really sure how that works.

Wow! My wife and I were TOTALLY in that store when we went to PEI in August for our honeymoon. I can't remember if we bought anything from it or not - I'll have to check the receipts... But I certainly remember being there. I'll have to bookmark that for when we miss the island and want to get something shipped up here. Thanks for the link@
