Snow, snow, go away - Another day in Toronto

OK, there has been a lot of snow in Toronto this winter.  I know, I know, it is Canada, but the white fluffy stuff is getting a little extreme.  For other snowed-in folks with a few minutes to spare, check out this CBC video snow spoof (I gotta hand it to CBC, they are putting out some innovative, informative, and entertaining content on TV that is making the rounds online - also, it's always fun to watch news people making fun of, well, news people).

UPDATE:  With all due respect to my former colleagues, this article here is hilarious.  Unfortunately, what a lot of viewers don't realize is that the powers that be in newsrooms actually tell reporters to act like this (so, so silly).  The writing is on the wall, or in this report.  Sensational local news reporting is not what viewers want.  Time to put down the snow folks, let loose and do a few donuts in the parking lot (OK, that was me last night).

I agree, CBC has upped their game.

As an Albertan, I *completely* agree with that video. :D Okay...so you guys have been unusually blasted with snow this year. But, look on the bright side...out there, you just wait a few weeks and most of it's melted. Stay warm!

HAHA, omg, I stomach hurts from laughing; I doubt many people outside of Toronto/Canada will get this. And most people in Canada and out of Toronto will be laughing at us more in a mocking way, what with everyone thinking "Let's All Hate Toronto". hmp. Still funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTLj_3R0-2g&feature=related By far one of the funniest videos on YouTube I have found. Be warned, might need some content advisory... no kids under 16? -- Just subject matter, nothing bad :P.

On a similar note, <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/qsharp/2252873311/" rel="nofollow">this</a> is what CBC Toronto had to say about the cold.

Ugh.. Snow.. Madison, WI just set the all-time snowiest winter record... and it's only February 12th!!! We're at 80.1 inches for the season!! Which is crazy, considering I think 50 inches is normal!

Lol. Watching Torontonians deal with snow is one of my favourite parts of winter.

@ Mike -- Psst. It melts and comes back, It's like it never left. Worse of all, it turns into ice, which in my Toronto-Loving opinion, is worse. @ Adam -- Well, our record has been 207 cm (81 inches) here in Toronto, and that's from 1937... We are at 130 right now, and as you said, it's only February the 12th; there's more still to come. In fact, there's more snowing right now. @ Louis -- See! This whole country has something against us. hmp. It's not like we go around telling the rest of the world Toronto is the capital of Canada; we aren't cocky, It's just that we are larger, and better… not our fault they make that judgement :P

Well, I'm not from Toronto, but amazingly enough I could plug Indianapolis and Hoosiers into the right places of that video, and it works perfectly. Hoosiers freak out completely when the snow hits. Funny stuff.

Amber, your be glad when you get to London next week then, it's been warm and sunny over here for the last 3 or 4 days, people are walking around Northampton in T0shirts and jeans it's that warm, temps is in mid teens, so bring your suncream. Great video, we come to a stop when we get 13mm, yes mm, of snow so I think we would all die if we had 130cm of snow over here to deal with. Are you glad you don't have to go out filming every day now? Keep Warm

At least you just get snow, here in Denver we have had a 65 Degree almost summers day, yet tomorrow just as we were hoping the worst is over. We will not get above freezing and snow will fall. At least your misery is consistent.

Living in Toronto, I really don't mind the snow. The only thing is, Amber, I have asked that you stop doing donuts in my driveway MANY times before.

Posted by: SteveintheUK | around 5 months ago

I like donuts, but prefer mine with jam in them. Amber, I hope no one from your car insurance company reads your blog, but glad you had fun last night. L&L

Amber, you know I am your number one fan, but I must take exception to your comment to "put down the snow" which gets left out in the cold enough as it is and doesn't need any name calling to add further insult. I can't go along with putting down any "snow folks" either (presumably this is what snowmen would be called in the south, if they ever had snow). Try not to fret, soon it will be spring and time again for the spaghetti harvest, as illustrated in this classic of government television broadcasting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyUvNnmFtgI

Bravo to Drake! We can only hope this is the case.... Donuts in the parking lot...now that's cool...snow is a lot of fun.

Been there, done that. I grew up on the east end of Lake Erie. Lake effect storms all the time. When you get off of school, it's fun; when you have to shovel it, not so much.

That was SO great hahaha here in NC, US we had zilch zero nada snow this year and it is 74F as we speak.
