Internet love, ScreenToaster, and Gary on Britney

I just (literally, five minutes ago) got home after a four-day trip to the West Coast.  Yesterday I did a Web 2.0 and Beyond speech to major retailers at TechPoint in Seattle, which went very well (thanks to a smart and enthusiastic crowd!).  On this trip, I also had a chance to visit my cousin in Victoria and my "brother from another mother" David.  Needless to say, it was fantastic to hang out with family members whom I don't see all that often.

After flying home from Vancouver on the snazzy new-ish Boeing 777, I remembered that I forgot to post commandN.  Check out the latest in tech news below.  Enjoy!

Bingo, trivia, & tweets - Election night on CP24.com

I'll be the first to admit that I'm sometimes discouraged by the lack of true integration between TV broadcast news and the Internet (minus the efforts of CNN's Rick Sanchez, that guy is an online madman), but I'm extremely(!) excited about our plans at CP24 on Canada's election night (Tuesday, Oct. 14th - which is also my Mom's Bday, Happy Bday Mom!).

From 8pm-11pm EST, join me on CP24.com for live chat, trivia, Election Bingo, and more.  Along with CP24.com's Seira Peesker, we'll be using CoverItLive to make the experience of chatting with us easy, fast, and fun (no sign-up process).

While you're watching the election results live on TV, toss your computer on your lap (yes, we all do it!) and let us know what you think of this year's election.  We can also share YouTube videos, and any other links that you think we should check out.  Here's all you need to know:

My election blog, noodles as stirsticks, and commandN (151)

I'm not going to lie.  The upcoming US election is much more exciting than the upcoming Canadian election (might have something to do with Obama and Palin).  Nonetheless, it's important for those of us living north of the border to get involved with what's happening in our country.  Fortunately, I am writing a daily election blog for CP24, so tracking the election online is baptism by fire for me.  Visit the new blog here.

Although we're not using a true blogging platform, we have hacked it together so we can allow comments and a few other Web 2.0 features.  If you find any interesting Canadian election videos, comments, or links, let me know.

On the issue of stirsticks, I was at the Rustic Cosmo Cafe in Parkdale today and I love their idea of using spaghetti noodles as stirsticks in an attempt to try to reduce the use of plastics.  Random, I know.
