I (finally!) had surgery yesterday (total hysterec I (finally!) had surgery yesterday (total hysterectomy) and now the healing begins. Thanks to the amazing team @sinaihealthtoronto 💕.

After more than two years of #anemia due to #fibroids, ER stays, monthly infusions, hormone therapy, and one minimally invasive surgery cancelled in December and other procedures tried, looking forward to moving forward.

Most importantly, let's invest in #WomensHealth so we get the funding and support we deserve.

It's time to move BEYOND your to-do list. For me, It's time to move BEYOND your to-do list. For me, this means a shift...

👩‍💼 From operating to leading
❣ From posting to influencing
✍ From writing to inspiring
🎤 From talking to changing

There was a time when getting things done was enough, but now we need leaders who make things happen. We also need better digital skills AND human skills.

The world is moving quickly from a place where everyday humans can thrive to a place where exceptional humans will prevail. I'm not saying that I love every aspect of this shift, but I certainly want the best chance of survival.

(Above thoughts from this week's newsletter)
I used to log my running workouts, but now I track I used to log my running workouts, but now I track my hemoglobin levels. For almost two and a half years, and possibly longer, I’ve suffered from anemia due to fibroids.

The link between heavy bleeding and anemia can increase your risk for needing a blood transfusion. This is top of mind for me, unfortunately. A blood transfusion is a short-term solution but treats the anemia immediately. That’s why I want to talk to you about how to Give #3In2023 - 3in2023.blood.ca - and what it means for all of us.

The COVID-19 pandemic rocked Canadian health care in unimaginable ways and our blood supply is suffering. Canadian Blood Services reported the number of people who donate regularly has decreased by 31,000 during the pandemic. They continue to maintain inventory benchmarks but it is not lost on me – a potential patient - that they are still being met by the smallest donor base in a decade. It’s simply not sustainable.

I am a huge believer that we hold the keys to our individual success, whether it’s in our business or personal life. And, a new year is always a good time to build new habits and break-up with “bad” habits.

Canadian Blood Services shares this sentiment and recently challenged people to create powerful, lifesaving habits this year that make a difference with Give #3In2023.

Here’s how it works. You sign up for 3 commitments this year - it could be a combination of time, expertise, a financial gift, or a life-saving donation - whatever works for you. Just head on over to 3in2023.blood.ca to join us.

I may not be able to donate blood right now, but I’m relieved to know I can help in other ways. If you’re able to commit to 3 in 2023, thank you.

#CanadasLifeline needs your help.

Women's healthcare is not a "niche industry," desp Women's healthcare is not a "niche industry," despite what some investors think. In fact, that sentiment is hurting women's health innovation.

As one example, "on the digital health front, FemTech companies currently receive (only) 3 percent of all digital health funding." (McKinsey)

The stories of - and opportunities in - women's health innovation need to be told, so we produced a special one-hour #FemTech episode of our weekly show #TheFeed on @siriusxmcanada to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay2023.

Here's a sneak peek of our conversation with founder Christy Prada, CEO of Future Fertility, sharing how they use #AI to help measure egg quality for an objective view of the probability of successful fertilization and help patients make informed decisions.

Other companies featured include nixit, Aruna Revolution, and Hyivy Health.
Investors often say #WomensHealth is a "niche mark Investors often say #WomensHealth is a "niche market."

However, 50% of the population is not a niche.

We just finished recording and editing a VERY special #FemTech episode of #TheFeed for #IWD2023, which will air on @siriusxmcanada this weekend.

We interview 5 fabulous #FemTech founders including Rachel Bartholomew from @HyivyHealth

Here's a sneak peek over our conversation👇.

Thanks for all your comments about the future of " Thanks for all your comments about the future of "Critical Ignoring." We made a short video on this subject to watch and share before we head into the weekend.

Critical ignoring is one of the best online skills to learn in 2023. While it's good for all of us as adults, it's also something we desperately need to teach our kids.

In other words, critical thinking is a must to succeed in today's fast-paced world -- and critical ignoring is a must to save our sanity.

More on digital skills each week in my newsletter: http://ambermac.com/newsletter
"Critical thinking is not enough." We all know th "Critical thinking is not enough."

We all know the importance of critical thinking, but what about critical ignoring? I stumbled upon this term last week, which led me to question how I manage my own information diet.

As one recent article on this topic explains (weforum.org):
"The web is an informational paradise and a hellscape at the same time."

The authors lay out three steps to beat information overload. I wholeheartedly agree with the first two: design your own healthy online environment (limit notifications and distractions) and use lateral reading (leverage the power of the web to fact check the web). The third step might be a bit more problematic: don't feed the trolls.

I would add an asterisk to this recommendation. In the early days of social media, the trolls were anonymous users and eventually evolved to include internet bots. Today, they're sometimes people in power, including CEOs and politicians. As I argue in the video below, if we allow these people to drive the conversation, we give them all the space they need to fan the flames of today's growing hellscape.

In short, critical ignoring is a must-have skill in 2023, but we must not let it turn into apathy.

(I'm working on a video on this subject, so stay tuned. If you want more weekly content to make you think - and learn how to ignore - sign up for my free Tuesday newsletter: ambermac.com/newsletter).
