Fitness 2017: Most Innovative Gadgets

Friday, Jan 27, 1pm ET – I’ll be LIVE on Periscope talking 5 Fitness Gadgets for a healthier 2017

A few years after having my son, I knew I had to get my fitness routine back on track. As an adult, I have always been a healthy eater, but my work-outs were few and far between while I was chasing after my little toddler. Fortunately, when he started school, I started working out again at least four to five times a week. Plus, thanks to some exciting new technology, it’s made it easier for me to stay on top of everything from how much water I’m drinking to helping my family focus on fitness first.

Fitbit Charge 2 – $199.99

The latest wearable tech product from Fitbit is the Charge 2. This device has automatic heart rate tracking on your wrist, so you can accurately amp up your work-outs. Plus, you can log specific exercises such as running or yoga. Finally, you can create personalized breathing sessions based on your real-time heart rate. In other words, this is the perfect gadget to either speed up or slow down during your busy days.

Tangram Connected Jump Rope – $99.99

Skipping is an old-school way to lose weight, but this rope has a high-tech twist. You can track your jump count, calories burned, and get interval training recommendations. If you’re competitive, you can also compete with friends. This product has LEDs, so you can see where you’re skipping. I do a lot of business travel, so this is an ideal fitness gadget to bring on the road.

Thermos Water Bottle – $89.99

Working out regularly means you need to drink more water, but as we all know, it’s easy to forget. If increasing your H20 intake is one of your 2017 health goals, consider giving this Thermos Water Bottle a try. It lets you set daily hydration goals (based on recommendations) or set your desired amount. The companion app will let you track your hydration progress (plus, you can get reminders to drink up throughout the day!).

Withings Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor – $174.99

A very close family member of mine has been managing high blood pressure for a number of years, managing it using some old school tech. Thankfully, Withings just launched a new high-accuracy blood pressure monitor device that easily syncs with the company’s Withings Health Mate app. What I love about this is that you can get detailed results and track your BP readings, so you can better focus on your treatment.

Jaybird X-2 Sport Wireless Ear Buds – $119.99

I always listen to music when I work out, but I haven’t always had the best experience with headphones. If you’re committed to hitting the gym or exercising at home, it’s worth investing in a good pair of sports-ready wireless ear buds. Jaybird uses something called SignalPlus, which means you can enjoy tunes but also answer calls (all while blocking out background noise). Plus, they are snug and comfy, a necessity for an audio accessory.
